Vectra Voice

Old Friends, New Beginnings

July 15, 2018

theRAConnection’s partnership with Vectra goes back to our beginnings five years ago when the team behind Vectra first supported our effort to create a unique place for RA patients to connect with each other. Our vision was to combine educational content with a social community to inspire, support, and inform patients and their caregivers. We’re really proud of our great community of 4,500 registered users and our top-notch writers who keep the community abreast of relevant and meaningful health information and news updates on treatment and management.

The RA Connection

That’s why we jumped at the chance to relaunch our site on the health channel of the newly formed Maven Health network of publishers. Not only does the relaunched site have a crisp and clean look that’s much easier to navigate, but it also provides a better patient experience. Additionally, it offers patients who blog an opportunity to gain an even broader audience by posting directly on theRAConnection.

Developed by former senior managers from yahoo.com and Microsoft, who also helped build Google search, the goal of Maven is to bring together a variety of publishers onto one searchable, interconnected, and sophisticated platform to broaden exposure for everyone. We can congregate even more original and curated content, and this will allow a greater sense of community and connection. Maven’s health channel will include 40 sites, and theRAConnection is one of the first to come on board.

Our writers are thrilled that their high-quality, daily content will be available to more patients seeking answers – and it allows patients to interact with the writers more directly. For example, we recently surveyed our community to find out how many are treated by physicians who routinely perform a disease activity score, with 55 percent of patients responding positively. On our new site, community members can more easily dialog with each other about this information and their experiences, hopefully inspiring and supporting each other on their journeys together.

RA patients and others with chronic, autoimmune disease know how incredibly valuable it is to connect with others who share similar struggles and achievements and who can pass along the latest updates and their take on it. After five years of building community, we’re excited to use the power of technology to draw people together even more.

We’re thrilled that we’ve had a long-term relationship with Vectra and that we can work together in our shared mission to improve the lives of RA patients and their families.
